You may have seen recent news about suppressors and federal registration. In August 2026, a federal court in Texas blocked the ATF from enforcing suppressor registration against the parties covered by that case. The ruling does not apply to every buyer, and it remains subject to appeal.
Until the ATF issues official guidance, Hell's Backbone Firearms keeps suppressor transfers on the traditional Form 4 and registration path. I am not releasing suppressors on a standard background check alone right now.
If that process changes here, this page will say so.
A private transfer, with an approval step first.
Suppressors and other NFA-regulated items are transferred by the same private, appointment-only model as everything else here. The difference is a federal application that must be approved before the item can be released, and a longer wait that comes with it.
The transfer fee is $80 per NFA item. I receive the item, walk you through each step, and complete the transfer at a private appointment once approval is received.

Wait times vary, and I keep you informed as it progresses. Once approval is received, the final appointment is scheduled, private and unhurried.

The ATF publishes its current Form 4 processing times, and I can point you to them when we schedule. The final appointment happens only once approval is received.

Fingerprinting for the federal application is completed through a third-party provider, not in house. When the time comes, I will point you to the simplest local options.

The private transfer from start to finish: receiving the item, notifying you, and completing the transfer at the final appointment once approval is received. Third-party fingerprinting is separate and is explained before scheduling.
How long does it take?
Longer than a standard transfer. The federal review takes place before the item can be released, and current wait times move around. The ATF publishes its current processing times, which I will share when we talk.
Do I have to be 21?
Yes. Hell's Backbone Firearms serves customers 21 and older, for every transfer and every firearm type.
Is my appointment private?
Yes. Appointments are one on one and held at a private residence, not a retail location. You will not encounter other customers.
What if approval is delayed or denied?
The federal review runs on its own timeline. If a transfer cannot be completed, the item is returned through the proper channel, and I will walk you through next steps at that point.
