Salt Lake City.
A quieter way to handle a transfer.
Transfers are handled by appointment in a private residential setting. The process is simple: confirm the shipment, schedule a time, complete the required paperwork, and leave with clear next steps.
Appointments run one at a time, at whatever pace the paperwork and the questions call for. Nothing here assumes you have done this before.

What this shop can help with.
Standard transfer
When you buy a firearm from an online or out-of-state seller, it ships to a licensed dealer and you complete the federal paperwork in person. Hell's Backbone Firearms serves as your receiving dealer. Your background check and paperwork are completed here, by private appointment.
$45
NFA and suppressor transfer
Suppressors and other NFA-regulated items follow the same private appointment model. The federal application follows the traditional Form 4 and registration path, and fingerprinting is completed through a third-party provider rather than in house. Expect a longer timeline than a standard transfer, and the final appointment takes place once federal approval is received.

* The fees above are the full cost of the appointment itself. Costs outside the transfer fee, such as third-party fingerprinting for an NFA application, are explained in full before anything is scheduled.
Simple, by design.

What people ask.
Is there an age requirement?
Yes. Hell's Backbone Firearms serves customers 21 and older, for every transfer and every firearm type. It keeps one clear standard for every appointment.
Do I need to give my address or personal information to schedule?
No. Scheduling requires only a name and a contact method. The personal information required for a transfer, for the federal Form 4473, is handled at the appointment and kept in the shop's records as federal regulations require, not in any external system.
What ID do I need to bring?
Bring a government-issued photo ID that shows your current address. A driver's license or state ID is standard. If you are unsure whether yours works, ask before your appointment and it will be sorted out in advance.
What does an NFA transfer involve?
Suppressors and certain other items are regulated under the National Firearms Act and require additional federal paperwork, including fingerprinting and an application that is reviewed before the item can be transferred. This follows the traditional Form 4 and registration path. Fingerprinting is completed through a third-party provider rather than in house, and guidance on where to go is provided when the time comes.
How long does an NFA transfer take?
Longer than a standard transfer. The federal review of the application takes place before the item can be released, and current wait times vary. You will be kept informed as the application progresses, and the final appointment is scheduled once approval is received.
What if I don't pass the background check?
The background check is run through Utah's Bureau of Criminal Identification. If a transfer is denied, the firearm cannot be released. It is returned to the sending dealer, and that return is handled for you.
I've never owned a firearm. Is this service for me?
Yes. There is no expectation that you arrive with prior knowledge. The paperwork is walked through line by line, and the appointment runs at whatever pace your questions call for.
Is my appointment truly private?
Yes. Appointments are one on one and held at a private residence, not a retail location. You will not encounter other customers. Appointment details are not shared beyond what the law requires.
Can a firearm be shipped to me, or do I pick it up?
Transfers are completed in person at your appointment. The seller ships to this shop, the paperwork and background check are completed together, and you take the firearm home from there.
